Our group of twenty children is a culturally and linguistically diverse group. KIDS Kindergarten's language approach is selected so that it can serve the development of both German and English for all children at the kindergarten, regardless of their abilities in either one or the other language.
We apply a situational strategy which means all activities at KIDS Kindergarten are implemented alternately in English and German. Rather than using a "one teacher one language" approach, all our teachers speak English and German.
Free play and duties time is an excellent opportunity where individualised support of one or the other language can occur.
Additionally, the interaction between the multi-cultural children themselves plays a significant role in language development at KIDS Kindergarten.
The teaching team define individual language goals for children in consultation with parents to ensure these are consistent with each child's emotional and cognitive development level, family priorities and the educational future of the children.
